Consultation calls
I offer a free 20-minute phone or video consultation prior to scheduling. This provides an opportunity for us to talk briefly about your therapy goals and also to help us determine if I am a good fit for your needs. I will do my best to schedule the consultation at a time that is convenient for you.
Scheduling
I am in the office for a full day Monday through Wednesday and a half day on Thursdays (morning only). My earliest appointment is at 9:30 and my latest is at 4:30. I have limited after school openings and these go to existing clients first. Schools and employers are often more flexible than we think they might be. During our initial consultation call, we can talk more about how to approach absences or a request for flexible work scheduling. I also can write an absence note, if needed.
I am generally able to get new clients in for their first appointment within a week or two.
Minor clients
In the case of a minor (under 18) with divorced/separated parents, I require a copy of the current custody order prior to the first session. An electronic copy of this can be uploaded securely when signing consent forms. In cases where there is joint legal custody, I require the written consent of both parents in order to have our first session. In general, I prefer to have the consent of both parents regardless of the custody arrangement.
For all in-person sessions, a parent must attend with a minor client and remain in the waiting room for the entire session unless directly participating. For any older teen client (ages 16 or 17) with a driver’s license, this can be modified, and we can discuss other arrangements.
Cancellation Policy
Please notify me of a cancellation at least 24 hours before our scheduled session. Any no-show or cancellation with less than 24-hours notice will be charged the full session fee. As available, sessions rescheduled for the same calendar week will not result in a fee.
Online sessions
Through the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, all sessions will be conducted online using a secure, confidential platform that is HIPAA-compliant. This is to protect the health of the community – including you, your family, and me.
Once it is deemed safe to return to in-person services without protective precautions, online sessions will be available as occasional exceptions to in-person sessions. In the case of illness or inclement weather leading to hazardous driving conditions, online sessions will be offered.
